Finally I finished making my own watercolor paints, I’m taking a workshop and I learned how to make the medium and then it was just a matter of time to find the pigments mix them with the liquid medium and wait until dry. I’m sharing the magic recipe in case you wanna try.
Gum arabic 31 gr
Glycerin 10 ml
Ox gall 4 gr (I don’t like this one, and I didn’t know that in fact you can find it in all watercolor paints and some traditional printing methods)
Formaldehyde (Formol) 2.5 ml
Water 60 ml
A mix 50/50 of water and pure honey 11 ml
Mix all ingredients in a pot on low heat just to make it warm and everything gets integrated, set aside and let cool. That’s all, then you have to buy some pure ground pigments powder and mix them with the medium. Check out some pictures here.

Por fin termine de hacer mis acuarelas, resulta que en un taller al que estoy asistiendo nos enseñaron la fórmula mágica para preparar el medio o base y después era cuestión de tiempo para conseguir algunos pigmentos puros mezclar y ¡voilà! acuarelas de primera calidad hechas en casita. Les dejo la receta para ver si alguien más se anima.
Goma arábiga 31gr
Glicerina 10 ml
Hiel de toro 4 gr (este no me gusta, y no sabia pero se encuentra en todas las acuarelas y algunos sistemas de impresión tradicional)
Formol 2.5 ml
agua 60 ml
Mezcla 50/50 de agua y miel de abeja 11 ml
Se mezclan todos los ingredientes en una cacerola a fuego bajo solamente para que se tibie y todo se pueda mezclar, esos es todo deja que se enfrie y tienes que comprar pigmentos puros en polvo, mezclarlos con la base liquida y listo. Puedes checar fotos aquí.
